Each couture season in Paris, the chicest of the chic flock to arguably the most important show of the entire fashion calendar. No, it's not the designer of that luxury bag you've been saving up to buy for the past decade. It's the Bonpoint fashion show, where kids are supermodels and runway walks are adorable (not fierce).
Under the artistic direction of Christine Innamorato, Bonpoint's Winter 2018 collection, which debuted in Paris last week, was filled with pieces that we wish came in our sizes: a black tuxedo jacket, a pink peacoat, and white lace dress, for starters.
We love seeing photos from the Bonpoint show for the great clothes, terrific set, and of course, ridiculously good-looking children. This season, Mimi Thorisson, founder of Manger, a blog devoted to French cooking (yum!) let us tag along to see exactly what goes into being a child model, as she got her two daughters, Gaïa and Louise, ready for the show.
9:00 A.M., wake up call in Paris
"Its 'oh-so-nice' to wake up so late!," Louise writes. "No school today because it's Wednesday (most kids our age don't have school on this day in France!). Mommy & Daddy are getting ready for breakfast and Gaïa is wanting to stay in bed to watch a movie! Non, non, non, we have to wash our hair and look our best because it's the Bonpoint fashion show today! Yippee!"
10:30 A.M., breakfast time
"Yes, it took us that long to get ready," Louise says. "Thankfully the hotel let us have breakfast so late! Gaïa is the gourmande in our family. She could eat six eggs for breakfast and the whole buffet, too. I like one egg, a bowl of fruit, and a yogurt. Oh, and a croissant, please!"
11:45 A.M., puppy time
"We always travel with a few dogs," Louise says. "My father says it's important to let the dogs socialize in the city. That means Gaïa and I are going to take Humfri and his little boy Seymour on a walk. They are Smooth Fox Terriers and we love them. We only stay in dog-friendly hotels, like here at Hotel Raphael in Paris."
The Countdown to the show begins! We are getting very excited!!
1 P.M., Lunchtime
"This is our favorite place in Paris, the 'place Saint Sulpice'," Louise tells us. "We love pizza and we've been going to Bartolo since we were babies."
2:30 P.M., showtime
"Off we go to the show! We love the Bonpoint rue de Tournon boutique because there's a little wooden hut so we can play hide and seek! And Mommy got us some summer dresses from the new collection :) We looove them!"
